JOBS:

Staff Assistant
Pennsylvania Democratic Member of Congress seeks a staff assistant to be based out of a SE PA district. This person will travel with the Member in the district and will help to coordinate district based scheduling. The staffer will be responsible for driving the Member to district events and appointments, as well as advancing events to ensure proper set up.

Working closely with the D.C. scheduler, the staffer will help prepare a daily district schedule for the Member with detailed briefing materials, background memos and itineraries. Following events, the assistant will be responsible for reporting back to the district director and other staffers to ensure proper follow up on requests.

The staffer will also be responsible for office management and administrative duties, including greeting visitors; answering the telephone and responding to constituent requests for general information, tours, and other inquiries; as well as supply ordering and general office maintenance.

Candidates must thrive under pressure and tight deadlines. This position requires being available to work a flexible schedule, including evening hours, early mornings and occasional weekends. Candidates unable to work these hours need not apply.

Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of office experience is preferred, with at least one year working in a governmental office or political environment being ideal. Candidates should have strong telephone skills; strong oral and written communication skills; and the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to prioritization of and recommendations on district scheduling. District Director:



Pennsylvania Democratic Member of Congress seeks a district director to oversee district office operations and Member’s strategic local agenda. Working as part of a team with other senior staff, the district director is charged with implementing and developing strategic goals for the district office, local policy objectives, and strategies and operating plans for the Member's district office with respect to the district, constituents and policy needs of the Member.

The district director works closely with the legislative team to provide strategic counsel and to implement outreach initiatives on policy issues as they relate to the Commonwealth and district, including health care, tax policy, fiscal and budget matters, appropriations, economic development, transportation and livability issues.

This position requires staying informed and knowledgeable on key local concerns including advising the Member and other staff on these concerns, and taking frequent meetings on behalf of the Member with elected officials and their staff and representatives of local groups. The district director is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with stakeholder communities.

The district director directly supervises district employees with responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training district office employees, and planning, assigning and directing work. Through supervision of the casework staff, the district director oversees casework matters and correspondence with constituents and federal agencies.

This is a senior level position. 1. Coordinate and drive local area campaign on Walmart expansion,
including the items listed below.
a. Outreach to and ongoing conversations with community organizations,
faith-based groups, other unions, etc to build coalitions and

b. Facilitate local union & allies to decide on goals & strategy of
