Fall Internship
The Democracy Fund is seeking bright, enthusiastic interns to work with us this fall. Interns will gain first-hand knowledge on how creative philanthropy can work to improve our democracy. Interns may be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Producing original research on issues related to elections, local journalism, campaign finance, Congressional reform, and media policy
Participating in grantee meetings, policy briefings, Congressional hearings, and other events
Supporting research and diligence about new grantee candidates
Compiling press clips, writing blog posts, and creating content for the Democracy Fund’s social media accounts
Helping to organize internal and external events
Completing and presenting a self-directed project aligned with the goals of the Democracy Fund
Working to support the administrative needs of the team with editing, scheduling support, photocopying or other relevant administrative tasks and functions
Assist in preparation and copying, packing, and mailing meeting materials
Candidate requirements include:
Strong analytical, writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to think creatively about solving problems
Ability to multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail
Ability to take initiative and work independently
A deep passion for strengthening American democracy and a commitment to exploring a career in political or media reform
Preference may be given to candidates who have already completed their undergraduate studies (e.g. PhD, Masters, and law school students and graduates with work experience), but strong-performing seniors and juniors will be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Intern duties vary on a daily basis, but are all critical to the function of our office.
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, answering phones, responding to

NOW RECRUITING FOR THE MIKE MANSFIELD FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation is now recruiting for the Mike Mansfield Fellowship Program. This program provides up to ten federal employees with one year of professional development and networking opportunities in Japan. It was established by the U.S. Congress in 1994 to build a corps of U.S. federal government employees with proficiency in the Japanese language and practical, firsthand knowledge about Japan and its government.
The Mansfield Fellowship Program includes seven weeks of language training in Ishikawa Prefecture and ten months of professional assignments in the government of Japan. During the one-year program, Fellows will develop an in-depth understanding of Japan’s government and its policymaking process and create networks of contacts with their counterparts in the Japanese government, charitable, business, and academic communities.
Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to mid-career government employees with a professional interest in Japan. Successful candidates will join a diverse pool of Mansfield Fellows who currently serve in senior positions with the U.S. government.
Fellowship Components
The one-year Fellowship Program consists of two components:
• Seven-week homestay and language training program in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan
• Ten months of placements in the government of Japan and other organizations
During the program, Fellows are offered living allowances and other educational support benefits.
Eligibility
• Fellows must be federal employees with at least two consecutive years of federal government service by, and immediately preceding, July 1, 2016
• Fellows must obtain the authorization of an agency official before applying
• Fellows must be detailed by their home agency to the Foundation for the full duration of the Fellowship year from July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017

Nevada Republican seeks an unpaid communications intern for August 2015
and/or Fall 2015. Interns will work in a fast-paced Congressional office, gaining
valuable exposure and knowledge of the communications process and the United
States Congress. Communication intern responsibilities include tracking and
reporting on social media and news story comments, drafting social media posts,
establishing and managing a twitter account, and reaching out to local/national
reporters on social media. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend events
and committee meetings to take photos and videos, work with the
communications director to put press releases on the website, and assist with
writing projects at the discretion of the communications director. Interns will
also help facilitate our constituent communications program and guide
constituents on tours of the US Capitol building.
