Manager, Member and Government Relations
National Trade Association representing a major manufacturing, wholesale and retail industry seeks to hire an experienced government relations professional for the position of Member and Government Relations Manager. This position is based in Alexandria, VA.
Position Responsibilities:
• Analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals – drafting public policy statements
• Managing member relationships including assistance on issues, education regarding legislation and regulations, communications and maintenance of membership
• Managing office logistics including arrangements for Board meetings (4) and staff participation in industry events (3)
• Researching topics and gathering of information and statistics for use in crafting legislation
• Developing communication, education and public awareness tools to support the overall legislative strategy
• Developing strategies for data collection and growth of grassroots advocates database through outreach and coalition building
• Assisting with special projects as needed
• Working with government relations staff on all aspects of the association’s legislative and regulatory portfolio
Professional Experience:
• One to three years of government relations, Capitol Hill or state legislative staff experience
• Experience coordinating office logistics on a small scale
• Experience with database and/or membership management software
• Excellent writing and organizational skills
• Undergraduate or Master’s degree in relevant subject area is desirable
