State Government Relations Manager – Sacramento (West Coast) Come join Intuit as part of our team as a State Government Relations Manager. We are looking for creative policy leaders with a passion for innovation to join our team as Intuit revolutionizes and helps individuals and small businesses improve their financial lives. This position will be based in Sacramento, CA and will have responsibility for several states in the western region of the United States. Primary Responsibilities: Join and assist with further developing our national program of State and Local Government Relations. This role includes public policy advocacy, external relationship development and management through lobbying, communication and grassroots / grasstops activities. This role requires that qualified candidates are astute at identification, tracking and analysis of issues; as well as regional management of external consultants and lobbyists in order to achieve an effective and successful external affairs program with State and Local Government. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to work with senior corporate leaders and work on internal teams in multiple business units. Qualifications: • At a minimum, three to five years’ experience in a national, State and Local Government Relations program working on multiple business public policy issues within and across State and Local Governments in the United States, including managing state and local contract government relations professionals • Experience in the Tax, Financial Services and/or Technology sectors is preferred • Professional experience in government, and in political campaign staff and/or management is desirable • Ability to travel 50% – 60% of the time • Motivated self-starter and ability to work well both independently and in a team environment • Desire to be innovative and part of a growing team • BA in Political Science or equivalent preferred; Graduate work in Business or Juris Doctor desirable Specific Talent Sought: • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple, matrixes and internal and external stakeholders • Strategic thinker, who can translate vision to tangible execution and results, solving for long-term as well as short-term objectives • Critical thinker able to identify and link disparate pieces of information for understanding and problem solving in a government affairs context, including political intelligence, substantive policy issues, legislative and regulatory processes, with fluency in the working cultures of both the public and private sectors • This role is focused on strategic leadership and external influencing.
