Legislative Aide -- Dickstein Shapiro LLP

Dickstein Shapiro LLP, a large, DC-based law firm, is currently looking for a Legislative Aide to work in our Washington, DC office. This individual performs specifically delegated substantive legal and legislative tasks and other support functions under the direction and supervision of an attorney and/or lobbyist. Primary responsibilities include: maintaining some or all aspects of the firm’s Political Action Committee (PAC); preparing firm filings including reports to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and Congress under the supervision of attorneys/lobbyists; assisting attorneys/lobbyists with advice and filings to FEC, DOJ, and Congress on behalf of various firm clients; organizing fundraising events for the firm’s PAC and client PACs; providing legislative tracking and research on client issues; attending hearings and press conferences; monitoring various articles and sites for information important to the Government Affairs group and their clients; performing basic legislative monitoring activities, including House and Senate Committee and floor procedures, press conferences, and other public events, and providing thorough and timely reports on such activities; and generally supporting the attorneys/lobbyists in the group. Candidates must have: a Bachelor’s degree; up to two years of administrative experience on Capitol Hill or other legislative or campaign experience; strong organizational skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; a strong interest in the political process; the desire and willingness to be proactive; impeccable attention to detail; strong computer skills, including advanced functions of Microsoft Excel; and the ability to juggle multiple assignments. This position may require more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
