About the Company:
Reboot Illinois is a start-up web-based media project formed for the purpose of political, educational, and fiscal reform in Illinois and the Midwest. The site will feature relevant outside content as well as internally-developed analyses, debate facilitation, and clearly-presented statistics and facts. An essential element of the site content will come from citizens themselves through extensive participation and contribution opportunities—from writing guest editorials, commenting on site-sponsored debates, or posing questions to elected officials.
Working directly with the Online Editor, the Social Media and Marketing Manager will implement Reboot IL’s social media strategy, develop brand awareness, generate traffic to its social media platforms and website, and increase user engagement.
Responsibilities include:
· Help develop and implement social media and marketing strategy for Reboot IL:
— Monitor performance of social media platforms: analyze, review and report on effectiveness of applications or tools launched, campaigns, etc.
· Grow the presence of Reboot IL in social media platforms that increases user engagement and reaches to new users
· Keep awareness of latest social media applications, platforms, services and tools and explore new ways to leverage them
· Manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities (e.g., posting aggregated news on the website and social media platforms, creating a calendar to post to sites, respond to wall posts, tweets, etc.)
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in journalism or marketing or related fields
· 2 years of experience in online media and social media
o In-depth knowledge of the different social media platforms and their users
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Have a good knowledge of principles of SEO
· Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
· Knowledge of Illinois and Chicago politics a plus

We are looking for an experienced, creative, resourceful, technology-savvy individual to assume editorial responsibility for Reboot IL and help us rapidly develop new editorial content and analyses.
Responsibilities include:
· Becoming the editorial "face" and “voice” of Reboot and help developing :
— Our editorial strategy and tone
— Relationships with writers with experience in political analysis and reform pieces
— Relationships with political and cultural organizations and leaders in the region
· Executing website content strategy on a daily basis, including curating daily selection of articles for inclusion on site and writing short articles
· Working with the Social Media Manager to develop and help implement a social media and marketing strategy
· Developing and managing editorial schedule including forward calendar of topics for debate, reform-issue coverage, and investigative initiatives
· Managing in-house staff, outside writers and interns
· Having a strong understanding of SEO
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of editorial experience, in particular, in online media and web publishing
· Knows political landscape and players in Chicago and, more broadly, Illinois
· Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
