Legislative Correspondent/Assistant Legislative Assistant – Colorado Republican Member seeks a legislative correspondent/assistant legislative assistant. Daily tasks include writing letters, researching legislation, answering telephones, and assisting a busy legislative staff. Applicants should be detail-oriented professionals with strong organizational skills and writing abilities, positive attitude and pride in work product. Internships – Intern tasks include administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting mail, running errands, and leading tours of the Capitol for constituents. Additionally, interns may research legislation, draft letters and memos on behalf of legislative staff. Interns may also have the opportunity to attend hearings, and briefings, to enhance their knowledge of the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Ideal candidates are current college students or recent graduates with are highly motivated, detail-orientated with strong organizational and writing skills. A positive attitude and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure are also highly valued. Internships – The office of Congressman H. Morgan Griffith (VA-09) has an immediate opening for fall interns in the Washington, DC office. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) greeting visitors, answering telephones, sorting mail, assisting staff with projects, and attending briefings. This unpaid internship offers great exposure to the inner workings of a Capitol Hill office. Ties to southwest Virginia are preferred, but not required. Internships – The office of Congressman Kevin Yoder (KS-3) is seeking fall interns for the months of August through December. Internship responsibilities include handling all forms of constituent correspondence, guiding Capitol tours, attending committee hearings and briefings, drafting memos for staff, and a number of other tasks. This is a full-time, unpaid internship. Kansas ties are a plus but not a requirement. Internships – Texas Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives is looking for full time, unpaid Fall interns. Internships can start in August and can last through the end of December. Interns in the Washington, D.C. office will be responsible for assisting with general office duties (answering phones, passing out mail, distributing faxes), and assisting legislative staff with research and writing. Performing constituent services (scheduling tours, processing flag requests, and legislative correspondence) will also be an integral part of each internship. Interns will be encouraged to attend hearings, briefings, and other Congressional proceedings. Additional duties are available and will be assigned according to an intern’s interest and ability. Must be highly motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and will have the ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline. Internships – Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-09) is looking for Fall interns for his Washington D.C. office. Applicants should possess conservative values, be personable, and have strong writing skills. There will also be an opportunity to work on issues that interest him or her. Position is great for Capitol Hill experience. Legislative Director – Congressman Steve King seeks a Legislative Director to oversee the legislative operations of his Washington, DC office. Qualified candidates will be committed, pro-life conservatives with at least 2-3 years of experience working as a legislative staffer on Capitol Hill; a track record of success as a proactive, entrepreneurial, and creative legislative staffer; proven political skills and judgment; and excellent verbal and written communications skills. Previous management experience and Iowa ties are a plus.
