The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund is hiring a Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs in their DC Office.
NALEO was established in 1981 to promote the participation of Latinos in the nation’s civic life. The NALEO Educational Fund carries out this mission by developing and implementing programs that promote the integration of Latinos into the American political system, providing assistance and training to the nation’s Latino elected and appointed officials, and conducting research and policy analysis on political access issues.
The Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs acts as the organization’s primary representative and chief advocate on mission-related public policy issues. The Director works collaboratively with the Senior Director of Policy, Research and Advocacy and the Executive Director in pro-actively creating and setting the direction of policy initiatives relating to issues affecting Latino access to the electoral process, including naturalization, the Census, voting rights, election reform, and appointments to top federal positions. The Director is also responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Washington, D.C. office, which includes managing two staff members, including a Policy Analyst and the Office Manager. The Director must maintain and strengthen excellent working relationships with members of the White House Administration and staff, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Conference, other House and Senate members, and key federal agencies. The Director must also work closely with the national media and other advocacy organizations. The Director is also responsible for ensuring that the Washington, D.C. office keeps the organization’s constituency of Latino elected and appointed officials and other stakeholders informed about our policy initiatives. This is a full-time position, with a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Our client is seeking a Vice President of Foundation Relations to lead the effort to grow development partnerships and funding relationships with foundations and to leverage resources of the foundation community to help it reach its organizational goals. Health Internship – ML Strategies

Description
ML Strategies is seeking a full-time intern interested in health care policy and advocacy for Fall 2011 with a possibility of staying on past that. Interns at ML Strategies receive a wide range of responsibilities in assisting MLS professionals with client work and new client development. Duties may include monitoring Congressional hearings related to health, assisting with administrative duties, research on issues of importance to health practice clients, drafting memos and press releases and attending briefings, and meetings with ML Strategies professionals. The position will also work closely with ML Strategies and outside professionals on a new coalition to transform advanced health care and the treatment of long term illness.

This internship is ideal for students considering majors and careers in government, public policy, politics, or law. The internship will focus primarily on health care related issues. Individuals who wish to apply should be highly motivated, organized and professional. Time and compensation are negotiable. Legislative and/or Executive Branch internship experience is preferred.

State Directors Needed for 2012 Youth Organizing


Students Organizing for 2012 aims to create a coordinated campaign effort to
unify students and youth groups towards the re-election of President Obama.

We're seeking talented, committed volunteers to:


-Work with involved students at colleges and universities to form chapters
of our organization on their respective campuses


-Form a team of students to organize your state

-Synchronize your efforts with OFA state organization to maximize your
contribution to the campaign apparatus.

Qualifications:
