Communications Director – Conservative Republican in a major media market seeks an experienced and creative Communications Director. This is a very high paced office with a Member who gets a lot of media attention. Candidates must have outstanding communications skills, including speech-writing, press releases, newsletters, mass mail campaigns, new media, talking points and other written materials drafted for the Member. There is a heavy emphasis on new media, so candidates should also have experience in significant website, video editing and social media experience. Candidates must be able to work well with other staff to develop and execute an effective communications strategy for the Member. Campaign or Hill experience is preferred. Staff Assistant – A conservative Midwest member is seeking a Staff Assistant for his Washington office. Candidate must have fundamental understanding of the legislative process, possess strong organization skills and have some experience with IQ. Responsibilities include but not limited to greeting and screening visitors and callers, managing the tour and flag systems, and performing general administrative duties. Daily activities include but are not limited to answering phones, distributing and sorting mail, greeting guests, entering constituent information into the database, giving tours, and assisting staff members with various assignments. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in government and politics and needs to be motivated, dedicated to the office, friendly, personable, and possess a good sense of humor. Internships – Congressman Johnson’s office is looking for highly motivated interns to begin immediately. Applicants are expected to have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, quick learners, outgoing, able to meet self-imposed deadlines and deadlines from staff, and be familiar with Congress. Applicants must be available during August with possibility of continuing through fall semester. We are offering two internship programs. The first program will focus on the legislative process; responsible for assisting legislative staff in researching policy, tracking bills, drafting constituent response letters, and aiding staff when needed. We are also seeking individuals interested in gaining experience with political/governmental communications. Participants will work directly with media strategist on press releases, media outreach, website maintenance and design, social media management and monitoring, as well as assisting with the creation media content. Both positions can be tailored to specific interests of the participant and will offer the opportunity to become greater involved in the legislative process and come away with increased knowledge and capability. Internships – Indiana Congressman Larry Bucshon’s office is currently seeking fall interns to work in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities include leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, assisting the staff with policy research, media support, and constituent correspondence, attending committee hearings and briefings, in addition to various other administrative tasks, such as answering telephones and greeting visitors. Applicants should be available to start immediately and work through the Fall Semester. This position is unpaid, but interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill and learn about the legislative process while receiving college credit. Southwest Indiana ties are helpful, but not required. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be highly efficient, outgoing and enthusiastic. Applicants must be hard working with strong communication skills. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering phones, distributing and sorting mail, various office tasks, entering constituent information into the computer, directing tours, handling flag requests, and helping staff members with assignments. Internships – Representative Bill Johnson (OH-06) is currently seeking 2011 fall interns for the months of AUGUST - DECEMBER. Responsibilities will mostly include, but are not limited to: greeting guests in the front office, answering phones, giving Capitol tours, attending and summarizing hearings and/or briefings for legislative staff, and performing various administrative tasks. Ohio ties are preferred, but are not required. The months of the internship may vary depending on the availability or school schedule of the applicant.

Internship – Rep. Mick Mulvaney (SC-5) is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic graduate student, law student, or recent college grad with strong written and verbal communication skills to serve as a legislative intern in his D.C. office. Primary responsibilities will include drafting constituent correspondence, attending briefings and hearings, and preparing white papers for the Congressman and members of his staff. Additional duties will also include data entry, answering phones, sorting mail, conducting U.S. Capitol tours and helping with additional administration and office operations. Internships – Conservative Republican Congressman seeks four full-time interns; staggered start dates, with two positions available immediately. Start/stop dates are very flexible. Positions may involve constituent care and contact, press assignments, research/legislative assignments, giving tours of the Capitol, and assisting staff in a million incidental and unforeseeable ways. We try to match our needs to the Intern's interests and aptitudes. Appointees will gain valuable experience in House functions and learn first-hand how the hippest and most dynamic office on The Hill operates. Stipend of $500-$1,000 per month depending on qualifications. Conservatives with solid pro-life beliefs and strong work ethic will be a good fit. Those who are lazy and shiftless and hold liberal beliefs are unlikely to be comfortable here. Communications Director – The Washington D.C. based College Republican National Committee is seeking a full-time Communications Director. The Communications Director is responsible for developing and executing a national communications strategy for the CRNC. The focus of the Communications Director’s activities will include:



· Writing a comprehensive communications plan in conjunction with the CRNC Chairman

· Assisting with the CRNC’s Social Media platforms and programs, including Facebook, Twitter, and website content/blogs

· Writing and overseeing the creating of press releases, media advisories, opinion pieces, e-communications, research documents and website content

· Serving as one of the organization’s spokespeople and the chief liaison to all media

· Executing rapid response for breaking news stories & drafting internal messaging/talking points

· Creating and maintaining systems for tracking and reporting media placement, contacts, and spokespeople

· Proactively pitching the media and generating coverage for the organization



Suggested qualifications:

Comprehensive understanding of political communication principles and tactics, with experience working with both new and traditional media
Background in the news, politics, government, and/or public relations worlds
Institutional knowledge of College Republicans and CRNC structure
2+ years experience communications work for candidates, campaigns, or organizations
Strong oral and written communications skills
Experience in social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail databases
