Communications Director--College Republican National Committee

The Washington D.C. based College Republican National Committee is seeking a full-time Communications Director. The Communications Director is responsible for developing and executing a national communications strategy for the CRNC. The focus of the Communications Director’s activities will include:

Writing a comprehensive communications plan in conjunction with the CRNC Chairman
Assisting with the CRNC’s Social Media platforms and programs, including Facebook, Twitter, and website content/blogs
Writing and overseeing the creating of press releases, media advisories, opinion pieces, e-communications, research documents and website content
Serving as one of the organization’s spokespeople and the chief liaison to all media
Executing rapid response for breaking news stories & drafting internal messaging/talking points
Creating and maintaining systems for tracking and reporting media placement, contacts, and spokespeople
Proactively pitching the media and generating coverage for the organization
Suggested qualifications:

Comprehensive understanding of political communication principles and tactics, with experience working with both new and traditional media
Background in the news, politics, government, and/or public relations worlds
Institutional knowledge of College Republicans and CRNC structure
2+ years experience communications work for candidates, campaigns, or organizations
Strong oral and written communications skills
Experience in social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail databases
