An internship in the office will provide a valuable hands-on experience and a greater understanding of the legislative process. Internship- Congressman Doc Hastings (WA-04) is currently seeking applications for spring interns in his Washington, D.C. personal office. Congressman Hastings is the Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, so the office is always very busy. Although no two days are the same, internship duties will include attending policy briefings, answering phones, sorting mail, assisting with constituent correspondence, performing research, and a variety of other administrative tasks. Internship: Republican Congressman Rich Nugent (FL05) is currently seeking Spring/Summer interns for his Washington, DC office starting immediately. Interns will be responsible for assisting with general office duties (answering phones, passing out mail, checking faxes), and assisting legislative staff with research and writing. Performing constituent services (scheduling tours, processing flag requests, and legislative correspondence) will also be an integral part of each internship. Press Intern – Southern Republican Member seeks press interns for Washington, D.C. office to begin immediately and extend through the summer. Internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for qualified college juniors and seniors, or recent college graduates. Duties include but are not limited to: monitoring social media sites, tracking press coverage for district-specific and Washington media, assisting with constituent visit photos, photography of committee hearings and other events, answering phones, running errands, and answering constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn how a successful press team operates and learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.
