Press Intern – Southern Republican Member seeks press interns for Washington, D.C. office to begin immediately and extend through the summer. Internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for qualified college juniors and seniors, or recent college graduates. Duties include but are not limited to: monitoring social media sites, tracking press coverage for district-specific and Washington media, assisting with constituent visit photos, photography of committee hearings and other events, answering phones, running errands, and answering constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn how a successful press team operates and learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.
