Coordinator, Summer Camp, Girls Incorporated of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area - This is a grant funded position. Ensure development, coordination, supervision and delivery of structured, outcome-based programs and related enrichment activities for girls ages 11-15, in keeping with the grant's requirements and the core values of Girls Inc. The camp theme is Health and Wellness. The girls will experience a variety of Girls Inc.’s motivating programs as well as arts and crafts, swimming, local field trips and girl-focused fun! Position begins on June 3, 2013; Camp Dates are June 24-August 2, 2013. Principal Responsibilities: Assists in recruitment of girls. w Assists in development of camp activities and daily schedule. w Ensures that programs are administered in accordance with grant guidelines, Girls Inc. values, policies and procedures; works effectively with funders and program officers to communicate progress and needs. w Ensures that the schedule of activities is maintained and flows in a structured yet flexible way to meet the needs of the girls enrolled. w Ensures that program surveys are completed and outcomes are captured and reported. w Completes grant reports as required and provides timely verbal and written updates to Executive Director. w Develops and maintains positive and productive partnerships with girls, parents, community agencies and university staff and students and maximizes access to and coordination with community and university resources. w Orients and supervises staff, interns and volunteers, ensuring that quality control requirements are met. Assesses their work and recognizes their efforts. w Supports girls individually and collectively and makes referrals to other helping professionals as needed. Maintains confidentiality as required. w Keeps Executive Director informed of program activity, girls’ participation and related issues. Makes recommendations as needed. w Participates in assessment of own performance. w Completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Bachelors Degree, with courses in education, recreation, psychology, and/or child development preferred. w Specific interest in and knowledge of health and well-being fields and ability to apply relevant information to motivating camp activities. w Demonstrated success in teaching, youth work or related field which includes some experience in supervision, administration, course design, and community relations. w Demonstrated skill in working with diverse staff and youth; ability to inspire, motivate and facilitate cooperative work. w Demonstrated ability to coordinate a multi-faceted program. w Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programs which are responsive to the needs and interests of girls in the communities served.
