1)  Communications Director – Conservative Republican Congressman in search of a Communications Director to manage active and aggressive press operation. Candidate should possess strong writing skills and have an ability to message a variety of major policy issues. Candidate should also be a highly-motivated self-starter who is able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including drafting statements, speeches, and press releases; devising an overall media strategy; and managing communication with and inquiries from the media. Looking for a team player who brings a “no job is too small” attitude to the office with a genuine interest in conservative issues and Republican politics. Job Description
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) seeks a Senior Director of Legislative Affairs, acting as legislative advocate in our DC office, to advance AOPA member interests before Congress, fulfilling AOPA’s mission to keep flying safe, fun and affordable.
In this position, you will analyze and draft legislation, form effective relationships with governmental officials and members of Congress and their staff; educate on legislative issues and develop and implement advocacy strategies; draft materials such as congressional testimony, issue papers, talking points and letters; represent AOPA at congressional, political and industry events, and attend hearings, mark-ups, briefings and confirmations; identify, monitor and track pertinent congressional activity; assist with information for communications materials; and assist with the development and implementation of AOPA’s grassroots program, and answer AOPA member questions.
This position requires hands-on management experience in legislative activities and knowledge of key congressional players in aviation-related issues. You must have excellent written and verbal skills, be deadline and detail oriented, computer and internet savvy. Hill experience and knowledge of aviation issues preferred.
