Government & Associations Account Executive, Google Washington, DC Ideal Background • Government: a communications or program person from a cabinet-level agency who (1) understands the decision making process, (2) has a superior network within gov communications, and (3) could adapt to a client-facing consultative sales role. • Agency: a DC-agency person who worked on gov contracts at a known firm, understands the gov communication space, and has a superior network in the DC agency world & in the government. • Media sales: a candidate with stellar media sales experience who can quickly understand the market, build relationships, close deals, be a high-performing consultative seller. What we do: We work with federal government agencies on outreach & education programs ---- for example, Dept of Health & Human Services works with us, doing campaigns on everything from signing up for Medicare to encouraging kids not to smoke. They use Google's media platform to distribute those messages. What we need: our team has only existed for two years, so we are still trying to figure out the government space. There's tons of government programs that could be working with our team, but we don't even know they exist. We need to find those, educate them about what they can be doing on Google and through YouTube, and help them run campaigns using Google's platforms. Typically these campaigns run through third-party communication firms (Google does not contract directly with the government), so it's important to understand how to work with a communications agency in addition to the end client. Who we need: we're open to the background of the person who joins our team. It might be someone from the government who can help us navigate and find new government programs with whom we can work. It might be someone from a PR firm who works on government accounts and really understands the world of gov contracting for communication programs.
