Government Relations Manager Location: American Association of Port Authorities (Alexandria, VA) Posted Date: October 2012 The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) is seeking a talented Manager for its Government Relations Department. AAPA is a trade association which represents public ports throughout the Western Hemisphere, and provides government relations representation in Washington, D.C., for its 83 U.S. member ports. Compensation Excellent benefits including health, dental, life and disability insurance, employer-paid pension as well as 401K, and free parking. Salary DOQ. Duties AAPA is seeking someone with a minimum of five years’ experience, preferably more, on Capitol Hill and/or in government relations for an association. The individual selected will be responsible for advocating for Association positions with Congress and Federal agencies, working with Association committees on developing policy and programs, and writing briefing papers, talking points and articles on government relations issues. Responsibilities may include transportation policy, navigation aids, environment, export promotion, trade and security. Credentials Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and a track record of success working in a multi-faceted and busy work environment.
