Kentucky Member Looking to Fill 4 Vacancies

The subject line should reference the job of interest, and a cover letter and resume are required. 1. Legislative Correspondent – KY office is looking for a Legislative Correspondent. Responsibilities include performing the research necessary to formulate an adequate response to constituent corespondent and draft those responses in conjunction with the input of the Legislative Assistant(s) handling the issue and the Legislative Director. The person will develop and maintain a collection of prepared text, and be responsible for edits and updates as necessary. Duties may also include properly editing constituent information within the mail system, working with Legislative Assistants to track and develop legislation, assist in with legislative initiatives, and attending and reporting on assigned caucus and constituent meetings. 2. Education Legislative Assistant – KY office is looking for a Legislative Assistant to cover Education, as well as additional issue areas to be assigned. Hill experience strongly preferred. Experience with the Education portfolio also strongly preferred. This LA will be responsible for tracking legislation and other developments within their issue portfolio; briefing the Member for floor and committee work; developing, planning and executing cosponsor and sponsor opportunities; preparing vote recommendations; working in coordination with the Legislative Director and the Communications Department to communicate initiatives; conducting constituent meetings; and maintaining vote justifications, accomplishments and legislative fact sheets. 3. Budget, Tax and Banking Legislative Assistant — KY office is looking for a Legislative Assistant to cover Budget, Tax and Banking issues. Hill experience strongly preferred. Experience with the Budget and Tax portfolio required. This LA will be responsible for tracking legislation and other developments within their issue portfolio; briefing the Member for floor and committee work; developing, planning and executing cosponsor and sponsor opportunities; preparing vote recommendations; working in coordination with the Legislative Director and the Communications Department to communicate initiatives; conducting constituent meetings; and maintaining vote justifications, accomplishments and legislative fact sheets. 4. Foreign Affairs/Military Legislative Assistant - KY office is looking for a Legislative Assistant to cover Foreign Affairs, as well as additional issue areas to be assigned, possibly including Defense. Hill experience strongly preferred. Experience with the Foreign Affairs portfolio also strongly preferred. Familiarity with the Defense portfolio a plus. This LA will be responsible for tracking legislation and other developments within their issue portfolio; briefing the Member for floor and committee work; developing, planning and executing cosponsor and sponsor opportunities; preparing vote recommendations; working in coordination with the Legislative Director and the Communications Department to communicate initiatives; conducting constituent meetings; and maintaining vote justifications, accomplishments and legislative fact sheets.
