Policy and Advocacy Manager -- Irrigation Association
Job Description: Policy and Advocacy Manager
Authority: Reports to the Government and Public Affairs Director
Primary Responsibilities:
Research and draft briefings, policies and model legislation on issues that impact the
irrigation industry.
Work with the government and public affairs director in executing IA’s federal, state and
local legislative and regulatory strategy.
Monitor state and federal legislation and regulations.
Identify and develop volunteer state legislative coordinators, federal and state key contacts,
and other volunteer advocates to support IA’s federal, state and local advocacy efforts.
Manage fundraising strategy for IrrigationPAC, the political action committee of the Irrigation
Association.
Assist with the planning and implementation of annual fly-ins.
Work with government and public affairs director and other staff in providing information and
direction to the IA Government Affairs Committee.
Provide support to the development and advocacy of irrigation standards and codes.
Other duties as assigned by the IA’s government and public affairs director.
Skills/Experience Required:
Excellent written and verbal communications as well as organizational skills.
Three to five years of experience in government relations.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Other Requirements:
Occasional travel throughout the U.S.
Travel to the Irrigation Show (one week per year, November or December).
Type: Full time. 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Salary and benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent health, dental and vision
programs. FSA and 401(k) plan after one year of service.
