The Madeira School, an all-girls independent school in McLean, VA, is seeking offices to host students for unpaid internships on Wednesdays throughout the school year as part of the school’s Co-Curriculum program. Capitol Hill internships in the offices of Senators and Representatives are a hallmark of the Junior year at Madeira and our students have been coming to the Hill for over 40 years. Tasks have varied depending on the office, but often include conducting research, answering phones, responding to mail, running errands, going to hearings or giving tours. These tasks give students the opportunity to learn first- hand how the U.S. government works. Offices are assured of interns who are highly intelligent, capable, articulate, and motivated. Legislative Correspondent - Conservative Republican Member of Congress seeks an experienced Legislative Correspondent for their DC office. Primary responsibilities include running a high volume constituent mail operation; implementing an unsolicited mail/outreach program; editing and writing constituent letters; and handling a small portfolio of legislative issues. Fall Interns – Congressman James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) is currently seeking fall interns with conservative values for his Washington, DC office. Intern - The office of Congressman John Shadegg (AZ-03) is seeking candidates for internships starting immediately in his Washington, DC office. Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work diligently and upon instruction in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidates will be personable, detail oriented, and able to interact well with constituents. The intern will have the opportunity to interact with the legislative staff, learn about the legislative process on Capitol Hill, and attend briefings of interest.
