Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs American Society of Anesthesiologists Apply Here: https://home.eease.adp.com/recruit2/?id=11142011&t=1 Position Summary: Direct and advance the interests of anesthesiologists in professional standards, performance outcomes, and quality assurance in regulatory affairs as they intersect with quality initiatives. Provide expertise to ASA committees, members and staff on quality and performance measure matters and related Federal regulatory affairs. Proactively anticipate and respond to anesthesiologists' quality and related Federal regulatory needs, information and concerns. Equip members to use successful practices by learning and leveraging best practices. Represent anesthesiology to private sector and public organizations to influence programs of interest relating to quality matters. Position Responsibilities: · Advise officers, key ASA committees and staff on quality assurance, professional and practice standards, performance outcome measures, safety issues, and associated Joint Commission and related regulations affecting anesthesiologists. Respond to relevant ASA member questions in a timely manner. · Advance quality initiatives through written products and communications, including a bi-monthly Newsletter column. · Assist Committee on Quality Management and Departmental Administration in production of the Manual for Anesthesia Department Organization and Management (MADOM). · Assist Committee on Performance and Outcomes Measures with development of performance measures for anesthesiologists, including measures intended for public reporting at the federal level. · Coordinate and support development of new quality initiatives and related Federal regulatory lobbying for ASA members. · Facilitate, develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders in quality areas and oversee same for staff influencing regulation (i.e., TJC, NQF, AHRQ) for the benefit of ASA committees, members and staff. · Proactively identify important quality issues and Federal regulatory trends, actively participate in operational planning to develop strategies to meet current and future quality needs of ASA members consistent with overall ASA strategic goals and objectives. Provide analysis and interpretation of quality, performance and patient safety regulations. · Serve as principal ASA staff resource and budget coordinator to Committees on Quality Management and Departmental Administration and Performance and Outcomes Measures. · Manage and direct activities of regulatory quality affairs staff. · Participate in multi-specialty national healthcare quality collaboratives, such as the Surgical Quality Alliance and the AMA Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, in support of ASA interests. · Provide anesthesia and pain medicine quality matters expertise to ASA Federal and State Legislative staff. · Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships across all ASA departments and divisions to ensure enterprise-wide support for regulatory quality initiatives. Position Requirements: · Bachelor’s degree required. · Graduate degree in business, healthcare administration, public health, law, nursing or related field preferred. · Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare quality or related field required, such as work in a physician medical society or large group anesthesia practice. Minimum 3 years senior managerial experience required. · Expertise in and knowledge of physician quality issues required. · Previous clinical experience in perioperative care strongly preferred.
