Sr. Representative – Government Relations -- The Conservation Fund’s (TCF)

Sr. Representative – Government Relations The Senior Representative supports The Conservation Fund’s (TCF) programs and project leaders, primarily by helping represent the organization with the administration, Congress, and NGOs. The position will focus both on providing Government Relations assistance for our Sustainable Programs, as well as helping to secure federal land acquisition funding through Congressional appropriations, agency grant programs and other public funding sources, in order to complete priority conservation projects. Duties fundamental to the position include but are not limited to: • Working as part of the Government Relations team and with TCF project leaders to help select, implement and complete land acquisition projects. • Providing Government Relations support for TCF’s Sustainable Program and other initiatives. • Maintaining relationships with the legislative and executive branches. • Advancing appropriations and authorizing legislation to provide federal land conservation funding, such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), to help the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS), National Park Service (NPS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and state agencies achieve their land acquisition goals. • Advocating for programmatic funding, overseeing TCF’s participation in a range of federal grant programs, and building partnerships with federal departments and agencies, such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense, Department of Transportation, NOAA, and others. • Providing information to TCF field offices about the federal budget, appropriations process, federal grant programs, authorizing legislation and rulemakings along with agency policies and decisions. • Tracking and engaging in authorizing legislation, including the Transportation bill, Defense Authorization, Farm Bill, Water Resources Development Act and other high priority federal authorizing legislation. • Representing TCF in partnerships with businesses, landowners and conservation organizations relating to federal policy, federal appropriations, and agency budgets. • Ensuring compliance with Congressional and executive branch lobbying rules. The ideal candidate will have five to nine years of related experience, with a minimum of three years of work experience in Congress or the Executive Branch. Related non-profit or private sector employment will also be considered. Must have an understanding of the federal appropriations and authorization processes and federal land managing agencies. Must demonstrate ability to achieve results, work with others and a strong commitment to land conservation including fish and wildlife habitat protection, outdoor recreation and historic preservation. An advanced degree is desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills needed as well as the ability to use electronic communication devices.
