Communications Director – Florida Republican looking for experienced professional to handle media in D.C. office. Minimum of two years as Hill press secretary, including national media exposure. Proficiency in new media, websites, understanding of complex congressional issues and the ability to generate ideas and write clearly is essential. Agriculture Legislative Assistant – Congressman Steve King is seeking applications for the position of Agriculture Legislative Assistant in his Washington, DC office. Qualified candidates will be committed, pro-life conservatives with strong writing skills, a firm understanding of agriculture issues and policy, and substantive experience working in agriculture. The Agriculture Legislative Assistant will be responsible for assisting the congressman with all Agriculture Committee work, managing a larger portfolio of issues that will likely include energy and trade, writing constituent correspondence falling within these issues areas, and working with a significant number of outside groups on a regular basis. General responsibilities include constituent tour and flag requests, processing constituent mail and systems administration (familiarity with Dreamweaver and IQ would be beneficial). Interns - The office of Congressman Robert E. Latta (OH-5) is seeking conservative interns for the month of August and the Fall of 2010 in our Washington, DC office. Position responsibilities include answering phones, sorting and drafting correspondence, giving Capitol tours, researching legislation, data entry, and other duties as requested by staff members. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be highly organized and motivated, and possess a positive attitude. Ohio ties are preferred. College credit, if applicable, will be provided. These are unpaid positions, but interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest. College juniors or seniors are preferred. Interns - The office of Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.) is currently seeking full-time interns for the fall semester of 2010 in the Washington, D.C. office. Responsibilities include conducting tours of the Capitol, answering the telephones, organizing and inputting constituent correspondence, and aiding legislative staff on special projects. Interns are also given the opportunity to attend hearings and briefings to enhance their experience on Capitol Hill. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, detail oriented, and able to multi-task. This is an unpaid internship that, dependent upon your institution, may be eligible for college credit. Interns - The Office of Congressman Bill Shuster (PA-09) is seeking full time interns to start immediately in his Washington, DC office. Candidates should be a self-motivated, team player that is ready to work in a fast-paced environment. The internship will provide individuals with an opportunity to gain a hands-on experience in a Representative’s office while to obtaining a valuable understanding of the Legislative Branch of the Federal Government. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: answering phones, sorting constituent mail, attend committee hearings and briefings, data entry, and giving tours of the Capitol. Although this position is unpaid, we will work with the student to fulfill requirements for school credit programs. Paid Internship – Republican Congressman Lee Terry (NE-02) seeks a fall semester intern with Nebraska ties to work in his Washington, D.C. office. The intern will have the opportunity to attend committee hearings, conduct research for legislative staff, and experience all aspects of work in a congressional office. Administrative duties will include answering the phone, sorting mail and other tasks as assigned. This is a great opportunity for a college student or recent graduate to gain lots of hands-on experience working with a small D.C. staff. The start date and hours are flexible, but preference will be given to candidates who can begin before September, work a full-time schedule, and commit to the position through mid-December. Please note that applicants must have Nebraska ties to be considered for this position. Fall Interns – Congressman John Boozman (AR-3) is currently accepting applications for fall 2010 internships in his Washington, DC office. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, dependable, and professional individuals. Interns will have the opportunity to learn the legislative process and gain valuable Capitol Hill experience by assisting with administrative and legislative tasks. Duties include but are not limited to, answering phones, processing incoming mail, conducting Capitol tours, attending briefings, and aiding staff members with various projects. Fall Internships - Congressman John Campbell (CA-48) has an opening for fall internships in his Washington office. Duties include giving Capitol tours, answering phones, handling constituent correspondence, attending meetings, and assisting the Congressman’s legislative and press staff. The ideal candidate will be a college student with a demonstrated interest in politics and adherence to conservative principles.
