Agriculture Legislative Assistant – Congressman Steve King is seeking applications for the position of Agriculture Legislative Assistant in his Washington, DC office. Qualified candidates will be committed, pro-life conservatives with strong writing skills, a firm understanding of agriculture issues and policy, and substantive experience working in agriculture. The Agriculture Legislative Assistant will be responsible for assisting the congressman with all Agriculture Committee work, managing a larger portfolio of issues that will likely include energy and trade, writing constituent correspondence falling within these issues areas, and working with a significant number of outside groups on a regular basis. Interns - The office of Congressman Robert E. Latta (OH-5) is seeking conservative interns for the month of August and the Fall of 2010 in our Washington, DC office. Position responsibilities include answering phones, sorting and drafting correspondence, giving Capitol tours, researching legislation, data entry, and other duties as requested by staff members. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be highly organized and motivated, and possess a positive attitude. Ohio ties are preferred. College credit, if applicable, will be provided. These are unpaid positions, but interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest. College juniors or seniors are preferred. Interns are also given the opportunity to attend hearings and briefings to enhance their experience on Capitol Hill. Paid Internship – Republican Congressman Lee Terry (NE-02) seeks a fall semester intern with Nebraska ties to work in his Washington, D.C. office. The intern will have the opportunity to attend committee hearings, conduct research for legislative staff, and experience all aspects of work in a congressional office. Administrative duties will include answering the phone, sorting mail and other tasks as assigned. This is a great opportunity for a college student or recent graduate to gain lots of hands-on experience working with a small D.C. staff. The start date and hours are flexible, but preference will be given to candidates who can begin before September, work a full-time schedule, and commit to the position through mid-December.
