Job Opening
The German Embassy in Washington is seeking to fill an opening for a Congressional Liaison
Officer in the Political Affairs Department, starting January 2012 (for an initial period of two years)
Duties and Responsibilities
• Observe and analyze legislative activities in Congress
• Brief the political affairs department on initiatives and events in Congress
• Perform preliminary work for reporting by the Embassy
• Assist in establishing and maintaining contacts
• Maintain the database of Congressional members and staffers
Qualifications and Requirements
• Good German and English language skills
• Excellent knowledge of the U.S. governmental system (Hill experience is desirable)
• Education: BA/Associate Bachelors Degree or completed vocational training
• Good knowledge of Internet and MS Office
• Experience with database
• Ability to communicate and work in a team
• Organizational skills
The contract conditions are based on the Embassy’s standard employment agreement for
nondiplomatic staff at the German foreign missions in the United States.
