Application Deadline Approaching

Applications are now being considered for 16 Enviropreneur Institute fellowships sponsored by the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC). This annual, two-week training for conservationists will be held in Bozeman, Montana, from June 24 - July 6, 2012.
The mission of PERC's Enviropreneur Institute (PEI) is to empower environmental entrepreneurs in the application of property, contracts, and markets to enhance environmental assets. The program features lectures by experts in the fields of economics, business planning, marketing, and project management. Discussion sessions, lectures, field trips, and individual mentoring with PEI faculty and alumni highlight the experience and give fellows an opportunity to develop business plans linking economic opportunity with environmental quality.
For context on how PERC's Enviropreneur Institute might empower your career, consider these comments by PEI alumni:
"Being accepted to PERC's PEI program validated the business concept I was developing. The arrival of the acceptance letter steeled my resolve to pursue launching the sales and marketing service line for mitigation banking credits. As someone who was new to the conservation space it was challenging to rapidly build a peer network that was willing to invest in collaborating to develop my ideas. The PEI Fellows and Educators have proven to be an exceptionally valuable resource I will continue to leverage as part of my toolbox. The 2011 Fellows found so much value in peer feedback from their PEI network they continue to have bi-weekly calls to share ideas. I left the PEI program with a refined business plan and a paying customer to test the business case. The collaborative PEI network is directly responsible for bringing the first paying client to the new service line I developed during PEI."
- Kent Carter (PEI Alumnus 2011) of Carter Ecosystem Services
"My two weeks with PERC at the Enviropreneur Institute were just the beginning of a much longer and more meaningful journey of discovery. During PEI, I gained incredible insights into how to better run my existing land conservation business through working one-on-one with PERC's talented and generous mentors. One year later I had a staff three times the size and had created systems and processes to continue growing while honoring my company's core values. Since then, I have experienced the benefit of the network of other PEI Associates and look forward to bouncing ideas and gaining inspiration while we all share and help one another. It truly feels like a family!"
- Ariel Steele (PEI Alumnus 2008) of Tax Credit Connections, Inc.
Successful applicants will be early to mid-career environmental leaders with an interest in innovative approaches to conservation. Those accepted will receive a $2,000 stipend out of which they will pay for their own travel and some meals. Lodging and most meals will be provided during the program.
