Legislative Correspondent- Rep. Greg Walden is seeking a Legislative Correspondent to manage and coordinate a rigorous constituent correspondence program. Candidates must possess excellent writing skills, and be assertive and efficient in their ability to organize, process, and respond to incoming mail. Prior experience in Internet Quorum (IQ) mail processing and database management is also a must. Ideal candidates would have knowledge of the legislative and political process, a strong attention to detail, and prior experience on Capitol Hill. Duties include, but are not limited to, sorting incoming letters and emails, tracking and assigning mail through IQ, drafting and sending timely responses, preparing weekly mail reports, and developing and executing regular outreach mailers. Candidate must also be well organized and able to multi-task efficiently in an environment of deadlines. Additional duties include producing a bi-weekly e-newsletter, talking points, compiling and distributing daily news clips, pitching stories to local and national media outlets, media event development, and maintaining the official website. Background in or knowledge of appropriations process and foreign affairs issues is a plus, as is the ability to speak and write in Spanish (but not necessary). Paid Intern: Conservative Republican is looking for a paid, full-time intern to begin immediately. A qualified candidate will be very well-organized, responsible, dependable, and have good oral and written communication skills. Duties will include answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, running errands, and aiding the Staff Assistant and Legislative Staff as necessary. This position should lead to a full time Staff Assistant position within a few months. Interns will often act as a direct liaison between the member and constituents.
