Primary responsibilities will include managing HASC-related activities, briefing the Member and senior staff, building and maintaining relationships with the veteran community, reviewing responses to constituent mail, and managing defense-related initiatives on behalf of the Member. Competitive candidates will have at least two to three years of prior experience as a Legislative Assistant or in a similar position. Additionally, prior military service is highly valued. Candidate must be detail-oriented, professional, entrepreneurial and knowledgeable. Effective written communication skills are required. The position will include regular travel to military installations in the Member’s congressional district. Portfolio of issues is likely to also contain some non-defense domestic issues.
