Promotes UT System research expertise within the institutes and other agencies. Essential Functions Within the Office of Federal Relations, serves as in-house expert on Department of Defense programs and processes. Establishes and maintains relationships with key Department of Defense personnel. Educates campus-based researchers about Department Of Defense grant opportunities and broader initiatives. Establishes and maintains a comprehensive knowledge of defense-related research expertise at UT System campuses. Strategizes with campus and System personnel on best ways to apply for and secure Department of Defense research awards. Increases the visibility of the UT System at the federal level by identifying opportunities for campus researchers to serve as Department of Defense advisors or panel members. Advises the Vice Chancellor for Federal Affairs and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research on Department of Defense related matters and research opportunities. Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Required qualifications Bachelors degree and 10 years experience working with the Department of Defense. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate. Working conditions May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Some work out of the office required, including travel to UT System Administration officies and campuses.
