Director of State and Local Government Affairs -- Intuit - Washington, DC (Washington D.C. Metro Area) Job Description Intuits Legal Compliance and Policy team is tasked with building, protecting and expanding Intuits competitive advantage and customer experience. We intelligently manage risk, shaping strategy to drive better business decisions for our internal and external environment. Come join the Corporate Affairs Team as a Director of State and Local Government Relations. We are looking for creative policy leaders with a passion for innovation to join our team as Intuit revolutionizes and helps individuals and small businesses improve their financial lives. Responsibilities: Lead and further develop our national program of State and Local Government Relations, including Public Policy Advocacy, External Relationship Development and Management, issue identification, tracking and analysis, and national team management including external consultants and lobbyists, for an effective and successful external affairs program with State and Local Government across the United States. Qualifications: • 10 or more years experience in leading and developing a State and Local Government Relations program on multiple business public policy issues within and across State and Local Governments in the United States, including managing nationally deployed teams of government relations professionals • 5 or more years senior-level management experience including leading nationally deployed teams of government relations professionals, and working effectively in an internal matrix-managed corporate environments • 5 or more years experience in the Tax, Financial Services and/or Technology sectors is preferred • Professional experience in government, and in political campaign staff and/or management is desirable • BA in Political Science or equivalent preferred; Graduate work in Business desirable Specific Talent Sought: • Successful experience in directing and managing a State and Local Government relations corporate compliance program with State laws, regulations and reporting and disclosure requirements governing lobbying and campaign finance • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple, matrixes internal stakeholders • Strategic thinker, who can translate vision to tangible execution and results, solving for long-term as well as short-term objectives • Critical thinker able to identify and link disparate pieces of information for understanding and problem solving in a government affairs context, including political intelligence, substantive policy issues, legislative and regulatory processes, with fluency in the working cultures of both the public and private sectors • This role is focused on strategic leadership and external influencing.
