Director of Development -- The Hearing Loss Association of America, a nonprofit organization with chapters throughout the United States, is seeking a creative, high-energy individual to raise funds for programs for people with hearing loss.
The person selected for this position will work closely with management and the board of trustees and be responsible for all fundraising activities including planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive development program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: securing corporate underwriting for the organization’s annual convention, the national Walk4Hearing™ walkathon, and other events; create and generate direct mail solicitations; design and implement a planned giving program, including contacting prospective donors and directing them to appropriate funding vehicles; plan, direct, publicize and manage other fundraising activities, including public relations activities associated with such events; direct the Combined Federal Campaign; maintain contact with and cultivate major donors and corporate donors through special recognition events and other contacts; work with accountant and executive director to produce an annual budget for the development department; write copy for publication in Hearing Loss Magazine, electronic e-News and web site promoting development activities; produce the annual report; conduct workshops at the HLAA convention on planned giving and fundraising advice for chapters; oversee gift acknowledgements and work as a member of the HLAA team on special projects or in any other ways deemed necessary. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus but must be willing to master donor database.
