ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
ASCP, a national, non-profit health care association located in Old Town, Alexandria, seeks an energetic, creative and motivated government affairs professional to help advance the interests of its members and promote the appropriate, safe and effective use of medications in the elderly. Responsibilities include coordinating grassroots campaigns and special events, assisting in the development of communications including new media and social networking, serving as liaison to internal and external groups, analyzing legislation and regulations, and actively representing ASCP before federal and state policy makers. Successful candidate will have three to five years experience in government affairs, policy advocacy, policy analysis, community or grass roots organizing, communications or association work, preferably relating to healthcare, pharmacy issues and/or care of the elderly. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Experience as a pharmacist or knowledge of pharmacy practice and issues a plus.
