Communications Director to Congressman Rooney

Communications Director – Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) seeks an experienced Communications Director to oversee all aspects of the Congressman’s press and new media strategy. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communications skills, political acumen and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with an emphasis on delivering earned media in the district. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: drafting/distributing press releases; writing a weekly op-ed or letter to the editor; weekly e-newsletter; updating and improving the website; preparation of talking points and speeches; establishing and maintaining strong relations with local media and executing an aggressive earned local media campaign. New media skills are a must. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of video, audio and/or photography and editing in those mediums. The successful candidate will have a pro-active, can-do attitude and be a team player. Prior communications/media relations experience and Florida ties are preferred.
