Federal Relations Specialist -- University of Illinois

The University of Illinois seeks a Federal Relations Specialist to serve as the liaison to the Director of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C. Primary responsibilities include: coordinating Capitol Hill and agency meetings for visiting University of Illinois leaders and faculty; managing the Director’s professional contacts, business correspondence, and calendar (including appointments and managing conflicts); attending legislative hearings, delegation meetings or association meetings in the Director’s absence; drafting concise “one-pager” position papers and persuasive talking points documents for use by the Director and university leaders and faculty; preparing high-level correspondence for the Director; helping develop and manage an office website and social networking sites with timely and pertinent content; and preparing travel itineraries, and securing airfare, train and rental car reservations. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, political science, communications or related field (Master's degree preferred) and should be strong writers with Capitol Hill experience.
