GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Coordinator to the Military Spouse Employment Programs will report directly to the Deputy Director of Military Spouse Employment Programs. Incumbent is responsible for assisting the Director and Deputy Director with the administration and execution of the Hiring Our Heroes’ Spouse Employment Program. Areas of responsibility include assisting the Deputy Director with outreach and planning for military spouse hiring fairs, assisting in the drafting and execution of a social media plan for the Military Spouse Program, administering online networking tools for spouses, and assisting the Director and Deputy Director in scheduling and recordkeeping for all meetings of the Military Spouse Business Alliance [MSBA], Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council [MSEAC], and more.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
• Assist the Deputy Director with planning and execution of 15-20 military spouse hiring fairs, and 3-5 military spouse networking events per year. Duties include assisting the Deputy Director with scheduling, processing contracts, outreach via emails and phone calls to installation staff, nonprofit partners, local business partners, and chambers of commerce
• Assist the Director and Deputy Director in creating and executing a social media plan for the Military Spouse Employment Program. Duties include aggregation and uploading of content about the Spouse Program’s events, MSBA activities, MSEAC news and military spouse employment issues.
• Administer the Spouse Program’s military spouse online networking and mentoring tools, including the Spouse Program’s database and eMentor. Administration of the tools includes answering questions from the general public about the tools and posting job announcements, MSBA news, MSEAC announcements and other general information about the Spouse Program.
• Assist the Director and Deputy Director with scheduling and planning of all MSEAC and MSBA meetings, including salon dinners and MSEAC meetings. Duties include scheduling meetings, compiling materials for meetings, taking notes at meetings and creating a record of all activity of the MSBA and MSEAC as instructed by the Deputy Director.
• Assist the Deputy Director to develop fliers, press advisories and marketing emails for military spouse hiring fairs and networking events, and manage distribution of marketing materials for spouse fairs and events.
• Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Incumbent will report to the Deputy Director of the Military Spouse Employment Program. Incumbent is expected to work collaboratively with the Director, Deputy Director and other staff at the U.S. Chamber, to exercise sound judgment in making and executing decisions, to demonstrate initiative in carrying out responsibilities and to keep the director informed of plans, progress and results.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; creativity and the ability to think strategically; the ability to be a self-starter, problem-solver, and decision maker; capability to work with a diverse group of nonprofit, government and corporate interests; computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint); and excellent organization and interpersonal skills. An understanding of financial management is necessary.
EXPERIENCE:
Requires 1-3 years of related experience.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience with military community strongly preferred.
