Director, Communications and Strategy -- US Chamber of Commerce

Director, Communications and Strategy US Chamber of Commerce Global Intellectual Property Center (GIPC) OVERVIEW: Lead GIPC’s day-to-day media outreach and broaden awareness and increase visibility of the Chamber and GIPC and its intellectual property (IP) policy agenda. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with executive director to initiate, develop, and deliver short- and long-term media campaigns to build press awareness and coverage of GIPC issues, programs, and events; draft and clear written reports, including press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and executive briefings; research and implement ways to leverage new and emerging media technologies to strengthen public awareness of key issues; work with the Chamber’s Communications Division and board to develop and oversee GIPC’s communications strategy; prepare staff for media interviews and draft communications; and develop and manage budgetary and other resources to achieve goals. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years’ related experience in communications, multimedia, or public relations; excellent written and verbal communications skills; creative self-starter with experience pitching and landing stories; ability to develop unified messages around policy issues under tight deadlines; strong proofreading and organizational skills; the ability to effectively interact with senior-level executives and outside contacts and vendors; familiarity with IP issues; knowledge of website management and social media; and proficiency in MS Office products. Background in journalism and/or content and project management preferred.
