District Director – Congressman Cliff Stearns is seeking a District Director, based in Ocala, FL. To manage community outreach, scheduling, and personnel for the Congressman’s 3 district offices. The position requires a highly motivated and organized self-starter who works well under pressure, is detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will also serve as surrogate for the Member at events throughout the district. Prior management experience necessary. Exceptional writing and speaking skills required. Legislative Correspondent - Rep. Kay Granger is seeking a Legislative Correspondent for her Washington, DC office. At least one year of relevant post-college experience is required. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of Capitol Hill experience, a knowledge of the legislative process and Intranet Quorum (IQ), and strong attention to detail. Strong writing skills are required. Candidates must be organized and able to manage a very robust correspondence program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to drafting correspondence, creating mail reports, writing proactive mailers, and briefing the Member on trends in correspondence. Judiciary Legislative Assistant (temporary) - Republican Congressman Randy Forbes (VA-04) is seeking a temporary Judiciary Legislative Assistant while the Legislative Counsel is out on maternity leave. The staffer will prepare for Judiciary Committee hearings and markups, conduct research, be responsible for an issue portfolio that also includes health care, business, labor, financial services, and taxes, and answer constituent correspondence. Applicants should have a legal background and previous work as a judiciary legislative assistant is a plus. Applicants should be available to start immediately and work through the end of June. Interns - Conservative Republican Rep. Thaddeus McCotter seeks six capable, industrious interns for the Summer and Fall. Start/stop dates are very flexible, with two positions available immediately. Positions may involve constituent care and contact, research/legislative assignments, giving tours of the Capitol, and assisting staff in a million incidental and unforeseeable ways. Appointees will gain valuable experience in House functions and learn first-hand how the hippest and most dynamic office on The Hill operates. Stipend of $500-$1,000 per month depending on qualifications and fitness. Conservatives with solid pro-life beliefs and strong work ethic will be a good fit. Those who are lazy and shiftless and hold liberal beliefs are unlikely to be comfortable here. Interns - Texas Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives is looking for full time, unpaid early Summer/Summer interns. Internships will last start in May and can last through the end of Summer. Interns in the Washington, D.C. office will be responsible for assisting with general office duties (answering phones, passing out mail, distributing faxes), and assisting legislative staff with research and writing. Performing constituent services (scheduling tours, processing flag requests, and legislative correspondence) will also be an integral part of each internship. Interns will be encouraged to attend hearings, briefings, and other Congressional proceedings. Additional duties are available and will be assigned according to an intern’s interest and ability. Must be highly motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and will have the ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline. New Jersey Governor’s Washington D.C. Office Unpaid Summer Internship - The Washington D.C. Office advocates and promotes the state interests and monitors federal actions that impact New Jersey. The office is the primary intermediary between state officials and the New Jersey Congressional delegation. The office also serves as a liaison between the state and federal governments. Finally, the office interacts with similar offices representing Governors from other states, working through organizations such as the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Republican Governors Association (RGA) to advance state interests. Interns' responsibilities include conducting research, preparing briefing books, attending meetings, hearings and briefings on Capitol Hill, and other administrative tasks. Interns are expected to have strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills. They must be able to work well under pressure and balance multiple tasks effectively. Most importantly, interns must have a healthy work ethic and be energetic, independent, and unafraid to take initiative. College students majoring in political science, public policy, and other social sciences are encouraged to apply. All internships are unpaid. While full-time interns are preferred, part-time interns will also be considered. Applications will be considered year-round. New Jersey ties preferred.
