Press Secretary - Congressman Steve King is seeking to hire a press secretary to coordinate media outreach, book interviews, and expand his exposure to national media outlets. Ideal candidates will be self-starters with established national media contacts. The Press Secretary must be able to work under pressure, respond quickly to deadlines, and identify opportunities to advance the congressman's message and agenda through the media. Applicants should be committed, pro-life conservatives who possess strong writing skills and have experience working with new media. Iowa ties are a plus but are not required. Interns - The office of Congressman Buck McKeon (CA 25), Chairman, of the House Armed Services Committee, is seeking unpaid Interns to fill positions immediately for Spring/Summer 2011 (May – August). Main responsibilities include answering phones, processing mail, drafting constituent correspondence letters, researching legislative issues, attending meetings/hearings as needed. There will also be opportunities to attend receptions and seminars that interest you. Candidates should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and computer-literate. This is a great opportunity for college students seeking academic credit. Applicants must be able to make a minimum commitment of four days a week. California ties a plus, but not required. Unpaid Interns – The Office of Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-01) is interviewing for unpaid interns for the summer in his Washington, DC office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to leading constituent tours of the Capitol, answering phones, sorting mail, running errands, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings and answering constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Applicants should possess a great work ethic; have personable communication skills, and strong writing skills. Arkansas ties are ideal, but are not required.
