Legislative Assistant/Counsel Opening

Extremely active Member seeks a Legislative Assistant/Counsel to handle House Judiciary Committee portfolio. The Member is on the Intellectual Property and Crime subcommittees. Applicants should have at least 2 years of direct legal work at a law firm or have worked on judiciary issues for a Member of Congress. Law degree and Capitol Hill experience required. This position will also handle other legislative issues as assigned.



A successful candidate will have exceptional legal research and writing skills and will be able to explain complex legal issues in layman’s terms. Additionally, applicants must be able to thrive in a collaborative team setting and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive attitude. Bilingualism is a plus. This is not an entry-level position.

Internship Program

Founded by former Vice President Al Gore, the Alliance for Climate
Protection is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization created to educate
people everywhere about the urgency and solvability of the climate
crisis.

The Alliance for Climate Protection seeks interns for the summer of
2011. Internship positions are available in several different areas;
including New Media, Communications, Solutions, and Research.

Program Qualifications:
- Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student
- Interest in climate issues and nonprofit organizations
- Willingness to participate in occasional intern events and volunteer
opportunities

Internship Details:
Interns will work in our Washington, DC headquarters, located a short
walk from the Chinatown and Metro Center metro stations. This is an
unpaid position, but course credit can be arranged. Interns must be
able to commit at least 15 hours a week to the position. Internship
program dates are roughly the middle of May/beginning of June through
the end of August for the summer term.
