Job title: Government Affairs Associate/ Trade Association Manager

A DC-based government affairs/lobbying firm, Chambers, Conlon & Hartwell (www.cch-llc.com), seeks an Associate to join the Washington, DC office. The employee would be primarily tasked to a rail industry trade association client of the firm, the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC). Responsibilities include general administration of the association, membership services, database management, conference planning, website update, management of an NRC intern, and government affairs activities. The position reports directly to the President of the association. Bachelor’s degree required. Ideal experience would include Capitol Hill work on transportation issues, conference planning, and trade association management. Interest or background in transportation policy and legislation is a plus. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with Microsoft Access is a plus.

Initial annual salary of approximately $35,000-$40,000 based on experience, in addition to health care benefits, paid vacation, sick leave, commuter benefits, and 401(k) benefits. 45-50 hours per week expected, occasionally more. Some travel required. Office located on Capitol Hill, walking distance from Union Station. Starting date between 3/26/12 and 4/30/12, can be negotiated.
