Government Affairs Assistant


Varian Medical Systems seeks a Government Affairs Assistant for the Washington D.C. Government Affairs office. Primary responsibilities include managing the state government affairs program of the company as well as handling the administrative matters for the Washington, DC office. Administrative duties include: coordinate teleconferences and other meetings, process department expense reports and invoices, and arrange travel. The position will assist in the direction of activities with the state program and also support the federal legislative and regulatory activities of the office.

Candidates must be self-starters who can maintain a fast-pace. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of healthcare policy issues as they relate to the medical device industry.

This position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience on Capitol Hill or in a federal or state agency, or government relations experience. Excellent written and oral communications skills required. Experience in working with national coalitions is desirable.

The Government Affairs Assistant will report to the Vice President, Government Affairs.
