Communications Director – Conservative Republican seeks a Communications Director to develop and oversee all aspects of an integrated press and new media strategy to drive the Congressman’s legislative agenda and in-district messaging. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communications skills, political acumen and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with an emphasis on delivering earned media in the district. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: drafting/distributing press releases; writing a weekly op-ed; letters to the editor as needed; regular updating and improving the website; preparation of talking points and speeches; establishing and maintaining strong relations with local media and executing an aggressive earned local media campaign. New and social media skills are a must, including knowledge of Facebook, twitter, video, audio and/or photography and editing in those mediums. These are unpaid positions, but interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest.
