National Finance Assistant Reports to: National Finance Directors
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) serves as the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with recruiting, assisting, funding, and electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. We provide services ranging from designing and helping execute field operations, to polling, creating radio and television commercials, fundraising, communications, and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and other groups from around the country.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
* Assist the National Finance Directors in the the day to day fundraising operations for the entire DCCC Finance Department.
* Serve as the liaison between the regional Finance teams and the National Finance Directors and ensure items, including event briefings, invitations, call sheets, and employee forms, are approved or addressed in a timely manner.
* Set up and prepare call time for Democratic House Leadership.
* Provide key administrative and organizational support to the National Finance Directors. Tasks include, but not limited to: scheduling, monthly expense reports, booking travel, and compiling event and finance meeting briefing binders and meeting packets.
* Assist with the event production for all large National events.
* Other duties as needed.

Organization Background:
The US Chapter of Global Campaign for Education (GCE-US) is a broad-based coalition of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), faith-based groups, teachers unions, student groups, academic institutions, think tanks and foundationsdedicated to ensuring access to quality education in developing nations. GCE-US promotes access to education as a basic human right and mobilizes the public to create political will to improve education for children around the world.The GCE-US Secretariat staff work closely with the GCE-US Leadership Council, coalition members, and other organizations to greatly increase political will to advance U.S support for Education for All (EFA).

Position Summary:
The Campaign Director will work closely with the GCE-US Leadership Council, coalition members, and other staff to advance GCE’s agenda with key decision-makers and build a strong base of grassroots and grasstops support for Education for All around the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Build relationships with policymakers and other decision-makers.
· Expand GCE-US coalition membership, leverage the involvement of coalition members and expand outreach to U.S. constituencies, including grassroots and grasstops, to broaden support for the campaign.
· Raise the profile of Education for All and of GCE-US across the country and in DC
· Lead the process of developing a strategic plan for the campaign and inform and advise the Leadership Council and coalition members of policy recommendations on an ongoing basis
· Organize nation-wide and DC based events to raise the profile of EFA with the media and policymakers.
· Ensure global education priorities and GCE-US have increased coverage in politically relevant media.
· Work with GCE-US partners to stay abreast of developments in international education policy, synthesize policy information and provide analysis
· Author policy and opinion papers for the coalition through consultation with the Leadership Council and coalition members.
· Manage campaign communications in coordination with the Campaign Associate, including bi-monthly campaign e-newsletters as well as posts on Facebook and Twitter accounts.
· Manage campaign budget and oversee reporting to the Leadership Council and funders.
· Manage campaign associate and consultants (including online, communications, and media consultants)
· Manage coalition working groups in partnership with working group chairpersons, and facilitate monthly coalition meetings
· Represent GCE-US at national and international meetings, conferences and public events
· Act as the GCE-US liaison with the Global Campaign for Education Secretariat as well as with other GCE Northern Coalitions.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required, with relevant advanced degree preferred
· Experience with global education policy or global development a must
· Familiarity with coalition work a strong plus
· 6-8 years policy-related experience with a non-profit or in government
· Strong oral communication, analytical, and writing skills
· Strong interpersonal and management skills, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Facility with MS Office, desktop publishing, and website maintenance
· Experience in developing and managing national advocacy campaigns

Compensation:

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago’s Government Affairs office seeks an Sophomore/Junior/Senior undergraduate student for a 2011 Fall internship in its Washington DC Government Affairs office. Receiving more than $330 million in government funds, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago supports a network of more than 120 health and human services agencies serving more than 300,000 Chicagoans of all faiths and hundreds of thousands more in 59 countries around the world.

Prior exposure to government relations, non-profits, and domestic policy would be helpful. The selected candidate will gain exposure to Capitol Hill and the Administration, develop an understanding of a variety of domestic social policy issues, and a first-hand look inside the Jewish communal world.

The candidate should have excellent writing and research skills, be able to juggle multiple projects at once, and have a solid foundation in Microsoft Office. Specific responsibilities during the internship will include:
