501(c)(3) CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TABLE

JOB OPENING: A unique opportunity to lay the foundation for a permanent coordinated roundtable in Arizona with organizations committed to a creating a measurable impact through civic engagement and issue organizing in Latino communities.

One Arizona’s Mission: One Arizona is a 501(c)(3) Civic Engagement Table dedicated to building the political power necessary to ensure that decision makers in our community reflect the values of the table’s member organizations. Our aim is to engage Arizona Latinos in the democratic process, develop new leadership from within these constituencies, and establish a long-term model and infrastructure to increase voter participation and civic involvement. This goal will be achieved primarily through coordination of nonprofits focused on civic participation for the 2011 municipal elections in Phoenix and Tucson and the 2012 federal and statewide elections.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Table Development
Ensure proper acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship of donors, cultivate new donors;
Participate in developing campaign materials, statements, and brochures;
Identify, cultivate, and maintain working relationships and serve as liaison to allies, unions, foundations, corporations, and individual donors;
Support the preparation of program projects, programs, strategic planning, goal evaluation, and reports;
Write reports for table members and funders on table activities and initiatives;
Identify and recruit new table partners from missing or underrepresented constituency organizations; and
Oversee public relations and communications programs of One Arizona.
Table Coordination
Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in the design and execution of One Arizona’s voter engagement, civic participation, and issue advocacy campaigns;
Work individually with each table member to identify the member’s potential contribution to table and desired outcomes from their participation in table work;
Coordinate and facilitate table meetings;
Communicate progress, successes and challenges to members and funders;
Communicate regularly with Alliance for Justice and the We Are America Alliance Legal Team to ensure compliance with all c-3 laws;
Act as liaison to national groups and networks; and
Oversee data tracking for voter engagement efforts.
Strengthen partner groups' civic participation capabilities; arrange for trainings and tools (including, for example, voter file utilization, targeting and research) to support the tables' collaborative civic participation activities.

Legislative Fellowship – The American Jewish Committee's (AJC) Office of Government and International Affairs (OGIA) is actively engaged in international diplomacy and public policy advocacy, managing relations between AJC and foreign governments, Congress and the Administration, as well as interacting with a range of civic, religious, ethnic and human rights groups in Washington, DC. Within its National and Legislative Affairs Department, AJC advocates on behalf of the American Jewish community on issues such as promoting the U.S.-Israel relationship, safeguarding religious liberty, advocating for immigration reform, and reducing American dependence on foreign energy sources.

AJC is seeking a fellow to provide support to the National and Legislative Affairs staff. We are looking for a recent graduate orgraduate student with a background in congressional affairs, foreign relations, immigration, environmental or energy policy, political science and/or a related field. Applicantsmust have excellent research, writing and editing skills. Attention to detail is critical.

Responsibilities include tracking legislation, composing letters to Members of Congress on AJC policy concerns, writing policy memos, attending meetings on Capitol Hill to promote AJC priorities, and participating in advocacy planning sessions with coalition partners from diverse religious, ethnic and public-policy organizations.
