Legislative Assistant – Congressman Kevin Brady (TX-08) seeks Legislative Assistant to handle a high-level portfolio, including tax, energy and other issues. Communications Director – Dynamic, pro-active freshman Republican seeks an experienced Communications Director to develop and oversee all aspects of an integrated press and new media strategy, in order to drive the Congressman’s legislative agenda and in-district messaging. A successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communications skills, political acumen and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with an emphasis on delivering earned media in the district. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: drafting/distributing press releases; writing/overseeing a weekly op-ed; letters to the editor as needed; implementing an aggressive 499 plan; regularly updating and improving the website; preparing talking points and speeches; and establishing and maintaining strong relations with a wide variety of local media in a largely rural district. New and social media skills are a must, including knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, video, audio and/or photography and editing in those mediums. Candidates must have at least 2 years of press experience on Capitol Hill. Being a team player, energetic, pro-active, and having a can-do attitude is essential.
