Legislative Director - Senior Midwestern Republican seeks Legislative Director with a minimum of 3-5 years Hill experience to manage legislative staff and advance aggressive agenda across a variety of issues. Strong knowledge of Financial Services and Urban issues strongly preferred. Candidate should have a proven record of mentoring and training junior staff, developing and implementing legislative initiatives, and have strong writing, analytical, and teambuilding skills. Other responsibilities include closely monitoring district and national issues, writing floor speeches and briefing memos, providing vote recommendations, and producing other policy-related documents. Press Assistant – Conservative Southern Member seeks a proactive Press Assistant to join a busy press shop. Candidates must have an understanding of new media/social networking tools and basic knowledge of traditional media outlets. Scheduler- Republican freshman Member seeks a detail oriented, highly organized and self-motivated individual as a Scheduler/Office Manager. Candidate will prepare the daily schedule for the member, and prepare detailed itineraries, including important numbers, locations and contact names; prepare monthly projected schedules; brief the member on all scheduling activities and requests of the Washington, D.C., and district offices; coordinate the Congressman's travel, ground transportation, and lodging; respond to all invitations, either by written correspondence or by personal telephone call. Candidate will also handle some office management duties such as processing thank-you notes. Candidate will work well under pressure and handle stress. Must have a flexible schedule as job includes long hours, nights, and weekends and other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree is required with at least two years of office experience. At least one year working in a congressional office is beneficial and West Virginia ties a plus. Must have strong telephone skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to prioritization of and recommendations on appointments. Internship - Republican Congressman Randy Forbes (VA-04) is seeking an unpaid full time intern for the summer of 2011, to be responsible for assisting the office with legislative research, letter writing, and managing of special projects related to defense, China, energy, and budget issues. Applicants must be highly motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and have the ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline. Please note that this is not a front office internship; this Intern will be working directly with the Legislative Staff. Previous work experience, including previous Capitol Hill experience is preferred. Applicants should be able to start immediately.
