Coordinator, Program Services
Washington, DC Government Affairs Office
PURPOSE: To assist with the coordination of all program-related activities associated with various grants, educational events and initiatives, and also assists the Manager of Policy and Program Services and Vice President of Program Services as needed as a member of the Program Services team of the association. Provide HIT expertise and logistical support for NRHA HIT-related programs. Provide administrative capacity and assistance in health care, health policy and for other health-related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Coordination of Specific Program Services Projects:
◊ Performs research related to the HIT Initiative at the state and local level by maintaining relationships with state and local rural health professionals.
◊ Assists the government affairs team in providing background on HIT related policy.
◊ Create and maintain an HIT-related webpage.
◊ Coordinate the collection, analysis, and sharing of best practices in HIT implementation, utilization, and funding.
◊ Assists with the Rural Training Track Technical Assistance Demonstration Program through communications, meeting coordination and reporting.
◊ Serves as lead contact for State Rural Health Associations and technical assistance.

Grants and Contracts
◊ Assists with the coordination of all policy related activities required under current cooperative agreements and contracts.
◊ Assists with the coordination, development, and implementation of new grants, contracts, cooperative agreements and other funding opportunities with oversight by the Vice President of Program Services.
◊ Works collaboratively with other association staff to ensure that all grant-related activities are developed, maintained, and implemented to meet the stated objectives of those activities, as well as being accomplished within the related budget.

Administrative
◊ Handles program-related telephone calls, e-mails, and correspondence from association members and others.
◊ Other duties as directed and requested by the Vice President of Program Services.
REPORTS TO POLICY & PROGRAM SERVICES MANAGER
EXEMPT POSITION
QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree attained or in process in public health, health policy, health administration or other health-care-related discipline. Knowledge of rural health programs and health information technology preferred. Grant writing experience and educational conference planning preferred as this is a high priority. Experience in nonprofit association also preferred. Excellent communications skills including writing, editing, and public speaking. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Possession of excellent research and analytical skills. Demonstrated knowledge of health policy and program planning preferred. Must be a team player, but also able to work independently and meet deadlines. Minimum of two years related experience in health care field. Start date will be in July 2011.
