Primary Duties

The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and tracking legislation that affects the railroad industry as well as following congressional ommittee schedules.

The position conducts research on legislation and on congressional members for various projects; coordinates and oversees the administration of AAR’s political action committee, RAILPAC, including preparation of RAILPAC newsletters; and coordinates and oversees various AAR sponsored congressional events.
The position is responsible for coordinating the rail industry grassroots efforts in building a base of supporters from both inside and outside the industry. Duties include maintaining the grassroots website to include current material and action alerts, recruiting additional members and public outreach.



Responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Sr. Vice President, Government Affairs and other employees of the Government Affairs department, as needed.

In addition, the position assists in the preparation and monitoring of the annual Government Affairs budget.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree and 2 to 4 years experience, including 1to 3 years legislative experience required.

Strong background working with Microsoft

Office software required and experience with Vocus software preferred. Looking for a candidate with initiative, along with strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills.

Minimum Salary: $45,975
Grade: 07
