Our client, Bloomberg Government, is seeking an outstanding individual to fill the role of Bloomberg Government Sales Leader – Automotive. This position is located at the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Bloomberg is creating an exciting new information product that will report on, analyze, and quantify the impact of government actions on business and industry. This new product will be marketed to government agencies including Congress, Beltway influencers (lobbyists, associations, etc.), and business leaders (C-suite executives, government sales, government affairs, etc.) in the industries that are most impacted by government actions. Bloomberg will bring the same unparalleled level of fact-based, objective reporting and analysis to Washington, DC as it has provided to the financial community for the past 27 years.

Position Overview

Serving as a member of the founding team charged with creating this ground-breaking product, the Bloomberg Government Sales Leader – Automotive will serve as a Sub-Industry Leader and will report to an Industry Leader. He/she will be responsible for developing the sales strategy to reach their target verticals. 

Primary responsibilities include:

        Articulating the Bloomberg Government’s value proposition and building its evolving reputation
        Identifying and prioritizing target accounts after considering the market, political environment, business model, and other key factors
        Managing the Vertical Industry Segment to achieve target sales goals including overall revenue, number of accounts, and total end users
        Building morale between team members and promoting team work, while maintaining a competitive environment
        Sharing customer insights with product leadership to better address user requirements
        Analyzing the market to effectively identify potential clients
        Building timely, strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
        Selling 20 seats per month to the targeted vertical

Performance Expectations

After a year’s assessment the candidate will have performed successfully by accomplishing the following:

        Met or exceeded specific sales metrics
        Conducted strategic networking within respective verticals to become known as the Bloomberg “go-to” person
        Conducted extensive business development within respective verticals to include attendance and participation in key industry events and venues

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced executive professional who has worked in the automotive vertical and has developed a strong industry knowledge base and a well-respected reputation. He/she must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and/or equivalent work experience. Substantive experience preferred in selling information products and services, or other related products to the vertical. In addition, the successful candidate must have the following skills:

        Excellent customer managerial skills with a minimum of ten years in managing relationships
        Experience in entrepreneurial environments or  having been part of a start-up
        Proven consultative sales skills  
        An ability to expand a products’ footprint within an account through additional end-user adoption
        Knowledge of the government, its marketplace, and sales acquisitions process 
        Ability to focus on customer relations in the legislative and regulatory arenas, as well as familiarity with government spending
        An entrepreneurial mind set and outgoing nature
        Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate value propositions to leaders in the public and private sectors
        An extensive network of substantive relationships within the industry 
        Accustomed to dealing with senior level government officials and those in key posts within their vertical
        Work experience for the corporate, lobbying, and association communities is a plus
