Press Secretary - Republican Member seeks a Press Secretary with strong writing background and the ability to multitask. Responsibilities include writing press releases and talking points, booking interviews and pitching stories, writing newspaper columns and newsletters, expanding new media outreach, and organizing press events. Preferred candidates should have knowledge of Congressional legislative process, proficiency with new media, ability to identify press opportunities, and at least two years of political communications experience. Legislative Assistant - A Southern Freshman Republican is accepting applications for a Legislative Assistant to oversee Education and Workforce issues and other issues. Applicants must have at least two years’ legislative experience in education and/or health care. Candidates should possess a strong analytical capability, excellent interpersonal skills, top-notch written and oral skills, and knowledge of committee and floor procedures. This position requires that the individual closely monitor issues, engage with constituents via phone and written correspondence, write floor speeches, co-sponsorship memos, floor memos/vote recommendations, and other policy-related documents. Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent - Rep. Nugent seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional writing, organizational and research skills to serve as a Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent. Candidate would manage all constituent tours, flag requests, greet all visitors, as well as assist legislative and press operations. The ideal candidate will have writing experience, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a high degree of professionalism. Texas ties are preferred. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering telephones, sorting mail, research, attending briefings and hearings, and assisting staff with various projects. Ideal candidates must be highly motivated and detail-oriented self-starters, excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Internships - The office of Congressman David B. McKinley (WV-1) currently has immediate internship positions available in our Washington, DC office. We are looking for highly qualified candidates that are motivated, detail orientated, and personable. The ideal candidates will have excellent research and writing abilities, be able to multi-task and interact well with constituents. These are unpaid positions, but interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest. Responsibilities include answering the phone, giving tours of the Capitol, assisting with constituent correspondence, and supporting the legislative staff on various projects.
