Legislative Director - Congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) is accepting applications for a Legislative Director to develop an active constituent mail system, franking program, oversee legislative priorities, handle committee work including hearing briefs, manage legislative staff, and assist in the preparation talking points and floor speeches. New Media Press Assistant - Republican House member seeks a New Media Press Assistant. The individual (working under the communications director) will be responsible for developing and growing the Congressman’s new media presence and online outreach efforts. This position will manage (and develop content for) the member’s website, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr pages. They will also be responsible for drafting a bi-weekly e-newsletter, as well as letters to the editor and weekly columns. In addition to managing day-to-day new media operations the person will be responsible for developing an aggressive and proactive new media plan using cutting edge tools and techniques. The New Media Press Assistant will also support the communications director in all media related activities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding and interest in new media and experience with a variety of new media platforms is essential. They will also be proficient in design and video editing programs, and be a creative, strategic thinker. Excellent writing skills and ability to excel under deadlines are a must.
