Legislative Director - Congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) is accepting applications for a Legislative Director to develop an active constituent mail system, franking program, oversee legislative priorities, handle committee work including hearing briefs, manage legislative staff, and assist in the preparation talking points and floor speeches. The successful candidate MUST have at least 3 years legislative staff experience (do not apply if you do not have LA experience). Knowledge of either financial services or homeland security issues is preferred. Previous L.D. experience is a plus. Candidates must have attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, be able to work with a team, and possess written and oral skills. Senior Legislative Assistant - Congressman John Fleming, M.D. of Louisiana is seeking a Senior Legislative Assistant. Minimum requirement is 2-3 years Legislative experience in a House or Senate GOP office. Portfolio will include healthcare and energy. Well qualified applicants will have a strong understanding of the legislative process, possess exceptional written and oral communication skills. Core responsibilities will include managing legislative issues, developing and executing legislative initiatives, keeping the Congressman apprised of relevant policy developments, meeting with constituents and other entities, and working with the Legislative Correspondent to edit and approve relevant correspondence. Strong conservative philosophy a must. Periodic travel to the district should be expected. Salary commensurate with experience. New Media Press Assistant - Republican House member seeks a New Media Press Assistant. The individual (working under the communications director) will be responsible for developing and growing the Congressman’s new media presence and online outreach efforts. This position will manage (and develop content for) the member’s website, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr pages. They will also be responsible for drafting a bi-weekly e-newsletter, as well as letters to the editor and weekly columns. In addition to managing day-to-day new media operations the person will be responsible for developing an aggressive and proactive new media plan using cutting edge tools and techniques. The New Media Press Assistant will also support the communications director in all media related activities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding and interest in new media and experience with a variety of new media platforms is essential. They will also be proficient in design and video editing programs, and be a creative, strategic thinker. Excellent writing skills and ability to excel under deadlines are a must. Legislative Assistant - Sen. Mike Johanns seeks a Legislative Assistant responsible for health care, education, pro-life, and Native American issues. Successful candidate must be knowledgeable about health policy and programs, including the new health care law. Knowledge of education and Native American issues preferred. Applicants should be comfortable generating legislative ideas, developing legislation, preparing briefing materials, drafting speeches, and meeting with constituents. Mike Johanns seeks a Legislative Correspondent to respond to constituent mail and assist with banking, financial services, budget, tax, appropriations, judiciary, and small business issues. In addition to drafting correspondence, responsibilities include preparing briefing materials, meeting with constituents, assisting with research for legislation and hearings. Interested candidates must possess strong writing and time management skills, work well in a fast-paced environment and feel comfortable interacting with constituents. Strong writing skills, organization, professionalism and attention to detail are required. Understanding of economics and deficit issues a plus. Internship – A southern Republican Congressman has an immediate internship opening. An internship in the office will provide a valuable hands-on experience and a greater understanding of the legislative process. Responsibilities include attending hearings, researching specific issues, compiling information to respond to constituents inquiries, handling incoming mail and data entry, giving visiting constituents tours of the Capitol, and performing general office duties. Spring Internship – The office of Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is seeking an intern to work in his Capitol Hill office. We are seeking motivated, organized and reliable individuals to assist with policy research and projects, constituent services such as leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, and general office administrative duties. Join our dynamic office and experience first-hand the political and public policy process. Candidates should be able to start as soon as possible. Internship - The Office of Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) is seeking bold, energetic, conservative individuals for paid/unpaid summer internships, beginning in June. During your time with our office, you will be given the opportunity to develop leadership, management, and policy experience. Duties include answering phones and mail, conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol, and assisting staff members and Congressman Jordan with achieving our legislative goals and constituent outreach. You will be challenged and will be given practical tools for career and academic success. Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to work as part of a professional team. Fourth District/Ohio ties are a plus. Candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be self-motivated. Applicants should also have outgoing personalities, a good sense of humor and be able to multi-task. Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting tours of the Capitol, taking phone calls, processing constituent mail, and performing other general office duties. Summer Interns - Representative Bill Johnson (06-OH) is currently seeking summer interns to participate in either a May 16-July 4 OR July 4-September 16 internship program. Responsibilities will mostly include, but are not limited to: greeting guests in the front office, answering phones, giving Capitol tours, attending and summarizing hearings and/or briefings for legislative staff, and performing various administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be hard-working, detail-oriented, and professional . Strong oral and written communication skills are highly valued.
