ALTA POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Housing and Real Estate Economist
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Basic Function of Position: ALTA is seeking a housing and real estate economist to direct the research activity for the association. This is a newly created position that will be responsible for identifying needed areas of research and statistics to better inform our membership, elected officials, regulators, and the media on the value of title insurance as well as the state of the market. The economist may be called upon to provide commentary on trends for key stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for writing clear, concise, and insightful commentary that provide meaningful and actionable analysis for members, elected officials, management, and the association board. Conduct independent economic research, analysis, and market forecasting and have a strong grounding in economic theory and quantitative methods. May give formal market presentations or prepare notes for management, board, members, etc. to use in market presentations. Stay informed on market events impacting title industry market. Analyze data from a wide variety of available sources. Build relationships with members, industry experts, and others within the organization to help inform opinions about and deepen knowledge of markets. Regularly discuss market conditions and data with management. Review forecasts and give feedback to stakeholders. Write thought-provoking, analytical content for ALTA's written products.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge: Minimum two years of housing and/or real estate market analysis. Possess a degree in economics, finance, or a related field (Masters/Ph.D appreciated) Self-motivated and committed to learning and improving. Superb analytic skills and intellectual curiosity that will promote strong market analysis. Ability to clearly and confidently write and present ideas. Follow-through and exceptional attention to detail is essential. Adept at MS Office suite.
