Team Overview
Founded in 1991, the Bay Area team is currently one of the largest regions with a force of nearly 420 corps members reaching approximately 30,000 students in eight school districts. In addition, nearly 1,300 alumni are working from all sectors to channel resources toward the effort to ensure educational equity. The Bay Area is fully locally supported at $10 million by a diversified funding base of individuals, foundations and corporations. By 2015, the Bay Area will increase to be a corps 600 with strong clusters in San Francisco, the East Bay and the Silicon Valley, impacting educational outcomes for 25% of the students growing up in poverty in the communities it serves. At the same time, the regional alumni network will grow to well over 2,000 and the local budget is projected to then be $18 million. Regional staff members work to train and support corps members, continually strengthen relationships with local schools and districts, foster the leadership of alumni li! ving in the area, and grow the funding base to continue growth and ensure sustainability.
Responsibilities
· Working closely with the Executive Director and the Regional Board of Advisors to create and execute the regional strategic and operational plans to ensure that the region maximizes opportunities, meets its goals and significantly grows funding while building long-term sustainability
· Analyzing historical and market data to set ambitious, yet feasible, revenue, donor quantity and retention goals for the next three years, and interim benchmarks
· Regularly assessing progress to goals and adjusting course as necessary
· Developing and executing pitches and strategies to reach goals for different segments
· Managing a development team of six full-time development staff to progress toward goals and develop them as professionals. Specifically ensuring the team:
· Strategically builds and manages its donor portfolios, by designing and implementing donor engagement plans
· Conducts excellent donor interactions and communications (i.e. events, operations, tracking systems and donor communications required to support the region's fundraising efforts are tightly executed and highly effective)
· Cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of donors through external meetings, events and correspondence
· Supporting the Executive Director in Regional Advisory Board management by developing the regional board, preparing for board meetings and corresponding with board members
· Serving on the Bay Area Regional Leadership Team to:
· Engage on region vision
· Develop and execute regional priorities
· Set the tone and culture for the region
· Managing the planning and execution of the inaugural Bay Area gala with the goal of raising $1.7 million
· Working in partnership with the Los Angeles region's development team and regional and national leadership to garner state funding by 2012
· Lead focused growth in individual giving, corporate giving and foundation giving, with a particular emphasis on major gifts ($100,000+ multi-year gifts.)
· Collaborating with the region's District Strategy Team to secure local public funding
· Managing the region's relationship with public funding agencies and ensuring compliance with these agencies' requirements
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelors degree required
· Minimum 5 years experience
· At least one year of management experience preferred
· Exceptional goal orientation and an excellent strategic thinker with a proven track record of success
· Excellent verbal and written communicator: can speak compellingly about our organization, mission and goals and has a mature presence
